Deepak Chopra Endorses One Peace Meditation

It is my great pleasure to support One Peace, an interfaith, non-partisan peace meditation September 21, 2008 to celebrate the International Day of Peace. The event brings together two remarkable spiritual leaders, Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne of the Sarvodaya Movement of Sri Lanka and Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith of the Agape International Spiritual Center of Los Angeles.
 
I wholeheartedly support the primary message of the event that peace begins with each individual and extends to family, community, entire countries and the world around us.
 
Consciousness is the ground of our being, from whence we all arise. By being mindful and intimate with this deepest aspect of ourselves, we can change everything that we call reality because reality is a differentiated aspect of ourselves.
 
I had the privilege of visiting Dr. Ariyaratne and Sarvodaya in Sri Lanka in early 2006. His tireless work to build an awakened society is a model to the world and inspiration to me.
 
Each of us, no matter what our standing in life, seeks both relief from suffering and the actualization of our common dreams.  Our health, community vitality and worldwide well-being can be transformed by meditation and the social action that derives from the peace awakened through meditation.  I commend One Peace, Sarvodaya and Agape for their efforts and encourage others to participate around the world.
